You are embarking on a tour that is uniquely Boulder in every way: Energetic, historical, charismatic, and downright attractive. We begin this tour in central Boulder, just steps away from the famous Boulder Creek Path and head west along the tree-lined, shaded path, listening to the rustle of the lively creek as we head to the mouth of the strikingly beautiful Boulder Canyon, passing through Eben G. Fine and Red Rocks Settler’s Parks. We can stop here and walk around a little to feel the history of this miners settlement. We’ll turn north until we reach the western edge of Historic Pearl Street. This is where the real majesty of urban Boulder begins. Passing by some lovely & unique architecture, and some of the oldest trees in the city, we emerge on The West End. Now the people-watching, free entertainment, shopping, and endless dining options explode! We’ll park & lock our bikes, and walk for a bit to get the full experience of this 4-block outdoor pedestrian mall. (Note: There’s rarely enough time to get the full experience of this charming mall, so we encourage all visitors to return for a half-day and evening on their own for the full effect). We’ll jump back on our bikes and head just north to view Boulder’s oldest hotel- The Hotel Boulderado, then over to the oldest existing theater- The Boulder Theater where the world-renowned E-Town Live Radio show has been recorded since 1991. Returning via the Historic Whittier Neighborhood, we’ll witness some historical architecture along designated bike lanes and routes, traversing our way through the Goss-Grove Neighborhood, until we reach the serene and car-free Boulder Creek Path again back to our starting point: The Boulder Bikesmith.
